The pure styling of the DB9 must certainly have been one of Ian Cullam’s greatest achievements and deservedly reputed to be one of the most beautiful designs in the world when first introduced.
After an extensive search I eventually found this very unusual combination of Toro Red exterior with Ivory interior and Piano Black dash. It was offered for sale with just 3K recorded miles by JCT-600 of Leeds in 2011. The temptation to buy such a distraction to take my mind off an impending landmark birthday proved irresistible!
Since then, my wife and I have added a further 12K miles of delightful, stylish and elegant topless motoring in touring around the UK and Europe. Wherever we have been the car has attracted attention and turned heads. Examples include a tour of Tuscany where every time we stopped a crowd of admirers would gather. They simply ignored the inevitable presence of local Italian exotic supercars in favour of the Volante!
Whilst driving through Southern Ireland we frequently received thumbs up gestures from strangers whilst passing through remote villages. In reaching a hotel in Kilkenny with very limited parking, the manager insisted that we park in the covered main vestibule entrance. The only proviso was that we had to allow him to be photographed in the driver’s seat for subsequent posting on their promotional website!
Such is the enthusiasm, passion and goodwill generated by a stunning car. Truly the embodiment of power, beauty and soul!
