One of only 276 DBS Volante built for the UK market and 323 right hand drive cars globally this 2012 Model Year DBS Volante in Quantum Silver with Obsidian Black and silver stitching interior was sold new by Stratstone Aston Martin Mayfair on 7th October 2011.
Originally owned by the Syrian show jumper Ahmad Hamcho, whilst he was based in London, it was used infrequently and by the time we purchased DBS in February 2016 it had covered only 7,700 miles.
From 2016-2019 we kept the car in professional storage in the UK and each year we took it on the annual Aston Martin Centenary Tour anniversary tours with twelve other couples visiting the Malvern Hills in 2016, Devon in 2017, Hampshire and Sussex in 2018 and The Lakes/Cumbria in 2019.
After the 2019 tour we decided to bring our DBS back to our home in New Zealand and it arrived in NZ in August last year. We were fortunate to secure the unique ‘DBS’ registration number. It was originally purchased by someone whose initials were DBS and was then bought by an Aston Martin fan with the dream of one day putting the plate on his very own DBS. However, his family priorities came first and we were able to buy the plate and after many years were able to put it on the car it was destined for.
Our DBS Volante led eleven random hire cars around the north island of New Zealand in February 2020 completing the 7th Aston Martin Centenary Tour anniversary tour with just days to spare before Covid-19 hit closing down borders and (fortunately for us) moving the AMOC Concours virtual.
Happy to have our DBS Volante with us in New Zealand for however long this lockdown lasts!
