EU62 EES was bought as a replacement of a DB2/4 which had been in my family for over 30 years. I wanted to have a different “Aston experience” and the V12 Vantage ticked all the important boxes as far as I was concerned.
First registered in September 2012 by Grange in Brentwood, the car was used by them as a demonstrator for 6 months. In March 2013, I had the opportunity to purchase the car with a little over 400 miles on the odometer. The car is finished in Hammerhead Silver with Obsidian Black trim and was built to a standard specification; since owning the car, the only alteration I have made is to add protective film to the nose, sills and front sections of the rear wheel-arches to guard against stone chips.
The car is generally used at the weekend and for attending major car shows / race meetings. I had previously been a regular concours entrant with the DB2/4 and I was determined that I would not be so fastidious with the Vantage. However, old habits die hard and encouraged by my son Steve, I entered the car in the 2016 Autumn Concours at Compton Verney, where it was awarded 1st in class with 93 points, a pleasing and unexpected result. The car is a cherished part of the family and Steve has now begun to take the car to events; the wild card photo was taken by him at a “Caffeine and Machine” car meet near Stratford-upon-Avon last year.
