From a sad start to a new hope with the wonderful, colourful V12 Vantage S.
I lost my much loved DB9 in a garage flood back in October 2019, which then instigated the search for a replacement. Eighteen months later, during a global pandemic with many false starts, I finally own the car of my dreams, having only collected on 23 December 2020.
The history of the car is quite unique having been an Aston factory press car and demonstrator being on display at Goodwood Festival and Revival shows, wearing the registration KP15 BZJ. It was the only RHD model produced in Cinnabar Orange with Bitter Chocolate and Orange Poppy interior, being a prototype combination for upcoming new models, making it rather ‘unique’.
I have only driven it once, picking it up from the AM dealers straight into my garage where it is now stuck until better weather (and a none water-logged driveway). The past two months has seen me improving and maintaining, ready for enjoyment and AMOC gatherings post lockdown. Currently my hobby appears to be enjoying the cars’ visual beauty with a coffee and a little bit of luxury chocolate.
I am not in the habit of naming my vehicles however an exception has been made and a christening ceremony took place for "Terry" (not from the Minder series) but from the chocolate!
Here's saluting you Terry!
Wow, Gavin. They say every cloud has a silver lining and your V12VS looks amazing - almost brand new, in fact. Wish my 2014 DB9.2 looked as good.
Thanks Robin, it’s done 14k miles and one would presume some of them driven quite hard being an Aston Press Car. Though with the effort and time I have put into getting it up to this condition it’s certainly been enjoyable, it’s as good underneath as on top now, with all the suspension and rear subframe being repainted and cleaned. I am sure your DB 9 is wonderful as well. Regards Gavin
Looks like your car is going to be the runaway winner of the people’s choice. Congratulations
still a long way to go, maybe a bit of chocolate orange for everyone might do the trick😂
It was a nice, and original touch 👍
@Steven Behrens Thanks, like being a little different, chocolates good as well
The dogs mate
Thanks Tony, a lot of hard work and cleaning in the last 2 months to get it to what it looks like here in these current photo's stuck at present in my garage, until better weather, cant wait to drive it.
