Greetings from Missouri USA to Mr. Mark Donoghue and all the judges of AMOC Concurs d’Etat. It is a privilege to be invited to participate in AMOC Virtual Concurs 2020. Congratulations to all including AMHT for the creative idea, which has certainly raised our spirits during this time of pandemic. Participating in this concurs brings a sense of community with the motoring world while we are sheltering at home. Further, sharing the pride of Aston Martin Ownership with likeminded individuals the world over is just what the doctor ordered.
My wife Debbie and I are the second owners of this beautiful proper Aston Martin sporting a naturally aspirated V12 engine and a dogleg 7 gearbox. This is the car boys (and in our case girls) daydreamed about one day driving. The Stratus White exterior accented by the Carbon Fiber Package, and Obsidian Black leather and alcantara interior truly captures the lines and flow of the Vantage S.
Our journey to ownership began when a skiing injury shattering my leg. Told not to expect to be able to properly drive a 3 pedal car again I was heartbroken, but determined to rehabilitate fully and once again have a manual gearbox. Few options existed, only one had a V 12. This rare car, only 1/100 in the USA, was located through a friend himself smitten with his Vantages and his soon arriving DB11. We had hours or she would go to some other lucky person. Deal done, we waited 4 frigid months for delivery during which we befriended Mr. Barry Griffiths, our car’s Final Inspector. His passion was palpable, and his joy that the car was heading for the bootlegger roads of the Ozark Mountains was contagious. Channeling my inner Carol Shelby, it has been love since the first dogleg shift.
