Hello everyone, memorabilia, the things we consider to be remarkable and worthy of remembrance or items that stir recollection and are valued in particular field of interest. Well, this unassuming black leather clad book with gold text, to me fulfils all the criteria above. The contents relate to a year of my life that I will never forget and will continue to build on. It is the result of 12 months research delving into multiple archives, both private and public and uncovering details of the lives of the founders of Bamford & Martin.
I graduated from University of Strathclyde in November 2019, with a MSc in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies or to put it another way family history, old handwriting and coats of arms. My dissertation was entitled:
A Genealogical Study of Aston Martin: The Bamford & Martin years 1913-1925.
My research uncovering the family backgrounds of 24 individuals, who in their own special way helped to shape, the brand we know and love. Much research had already been undertaken into the history of the cars and chassis but, little if any accurate research had been made into the individuals and this is the gap that I hope my research has filled.
Copies were presented to Merek Reichman, Design Director at Aston Martin Gaydon, and Aston Martin Heritage Trust, to add to their collection of items relating to the history of the company as well as the individuals who gave me access to their personal archives – you know who you are, so thank you, again
It's a good read!
