The Sutherlands are shown at their home in Berwick on Tweed with Rudge Whitworth cup to the right, then being received at Newport Pagnell for the first time since Gordon (owner until 1947)had sold the company to David Brown. They met inter alia CEO David Price, Harry Calton (who worked closely with Walter Hayes) , Kingsley Riding-Felce , late Ian McGregor and myself(AMOC) . He was shown around the factory ,driven up the road in the Atom and received a presentation of a replica bonnet motif of that car. The enthusiasm of Ford through Walter Hayes is witnessed by his attendance at the AMOC stand at the NEC Birmingham in 1992.He is seen standing next to Aston race driver Jack Fairman , then Simon Draper, also there inter alia is Tony Dron ,Hugh Beckwith and myself having made a presentation to Mr Hayes.. …..By now the factory had long sold off David Brown's office desk, armchairs and telephone and some of John Wyer's . These are now on loan from me at the Barn and are seen delivered to then AMOC chairman Michael Urban and Registrar Neil Murray in 2001 in a virtually empty building....all snapshots of history.
