.This Corgi model car, N° 218, was quite a novelty, as it was the first model ever with an opening bonnet and detailed engine. This cool quirk made the factory roll out 982.000 models! It came in red with yellow interior, or creamy shaded yellow with red interior.
Headlamps are painted. (from the 1962 model N° 309 on they were fitted with jewelled front lights).
One can see that this very copy is in complete original shape, treated respectfully by an apparently well-behaved owner, who used it for what is was intended, without breaking it.
The interior seems brand new and even the tail lights carry some remains of red paint still. All in all, the paintwork is pretty good. There are a few chips and flaws in the casting but nothing too bad.
The screens are all crystal clear, still after all these many years, and the suspension and tyres fine.
The base plate, still carrying its original grey colour, tells that it has been made where it had to, in GT. Britain. The crystal clear windows alone prove where the production stood for : quality.
A timeless delight to the eye, maybe even more so today
