Battling for Britain

One of the rare high spots last year was the Hampton Court Concours.
And my DB6 Vantage was one of four Astons invited to compete for the RAC Trophy.
Up against Ferraris, Jaguars et al, this was a rare honour.
Now in the 40th year of my ownership, I felt sure she would shine.
Twice restored by me - first in an ironing board factory, and later by Works Service - she remains highly original and is a credit to Newport Pagnell’s continuing craftsmanship.
The judges came, they duly inspected and they moved on.
Prince Michael of Kent prepared to welcome the winner....the tannoys crackled....and the winner was....a Messerschmitt KR300! There it is in my wildcard photo above, with my DB6 peering down on it with wide-eyed curiosity.
The Messerschmitt is indeed very cute with its 9hp, but is unusable on Britain’s potholed roads - if you avoid them with the front wheels, you catch them with the back one.
What an indignity for my battling Brit. Here she is in these short February days, still showing off her fine lines and 325 bhp brawn:

Can 27 February please restore some wounded pride?
Beautiful!
Thanks, Jose.
Much appreciated.
Mark. This car must be the best or one of the best DB6s in the World! Gorgeous and Good Luck
Thanks, Ian.
Let’s hope we get to Loseley this year - albeit the PM’s timetable as of this afternoon may be a couple of weeks against us.
However, I have enormous faith in both AstraZeneca (who I floated) and Prof Bell from Oxford, so I am not giving up yet!
If Loseley is cancelled how about moving the Concours to the AMHT w/e 26th June?
Glorious, perfect colour combination. Love it.
Thanks, Steve.
They call it Dubonnet Rosso, but I call it Chateau Talbot (not after the car, but the wine, which is one of my favourites).
The interior is rather more prosaically Biscuit.
But a great colour all the same.
