It was love at first sight when I first saw this wonderful car for sale in 2004, I had been on the lookout for a series 111, as I loved the purity of the lines and the simpler interior, and when I saw this one with the addition of the later bonnet and the inset driving lights, I thought it was the perfect car, at that time it was fitted with a RSW 7L engine, which ultimately failed a few months after purchase. I then had to decide what to do, with the help of Chris Adams at Four Ashes, I soon found out the cost of rebuilding the 7L engine was well beyond a Police Constables budget. The decision was made to return the car to standard, an extremely low mileage 1978 engine from a wreaked car was sourced, The engine was completely rebuilt using the original block to maintain the matching numbers, but with all the benefits of the later engine. At the same time all the other mechanics were overhauled as well.
The car is in the main all original, never having been restored, rather maintained and preserved, the car was resprayed in the original Kent Metallic Green in 2005 , again by Four Ashes Garage. The interior leather, carpets, headlining is all original and in great condition. The only thing I did was to repair the drivers floor mat heel pad with some robust black leather. The car is in regular use.
