Our V8 Vantage has been in the family since 1993 when my father in-law bought it from a London hairdresser who owned it since 1986. It's believed this owner had (what we assume would have been) GKN wheels changed to BBS and other modifications to accommodate the new wheels, so while its chassis number is a v580 OI it looks like a v580 BBS which we think it's a lot prettier. This, with the silver and blue colour combination and manual gearbox makes it a fairly rare breed. The whole of the interior (bar the radio) is original, including the carpets and mats with chassis number marked on the back (which I found when cleaning them). Outside, sills and the usual decay has been fixed in the last 10 years but very little restoration has been needed. I have had the car officially for 2 years - I've had financial responsibility for it a bit longer! When it was put up for sale by my father in-law our children begged us not to let it go and so I had to do a deal and became the 8th owner. Since then we’ve had the brakes restored and a carb strip and clean to bring it back up to 360bhp. It’s a cherished, if thirsty member of the family with a unique smell of leather and real engine which lingers with you long after it’s been put in the garage.
