EXA748 has been around since 2016. I'd always looked to return to pre war motoring once time (and finances!) allowed. I was very privileged in my younger years having raced BPA889, a 1933 Le Mans, in the late 1970'/early 80's. In 2019 EXA featured in the club magazine feature 'A Year in the Life of EXA748'. She covered over 6000 miles; trips including regulation rallies, weddings and a concours! Over the years I aim to compete in a couple of rallies with either my son or an old school friend navigating. Our best so far has been 2nd in class on the Blue Train Rally across France. On the whole EXA has been reliable but the winter of 2018/9 saw a major engine rebuild.
There isn't much early history but the original logbook showing the early owners is intact. She started life black with a red leather interior and red wheels but a restoration on the continent changes the colours the green and tan that can be seen now.
2020 was a very quiet year with all the events being cancelled! Very few miles were completed. However, 2021 is looking busier with Rally the Globe's Highland Thistle event in September and their Generation Rally in March 2022. Hopefully there'll be a few AMOC events in-between.
Well done. Great to see these cars being used properly.
A really great car that looks very good! I've read both articles in the magazine (#218 & #228) and had back than already been impressed on what you do with the car! It must be a lot of fun! How long did it take you to get enough thrust in the car to drive it that far? Or do you always have a "back-up" car with you?
Many thanks. No back up and never trailered to the events. Great fun especially as a family team. There’s great help on the events that’s so far been hardly needed. Many thanks Christian
