The car featured here is chassis B7/716/U, a 2 Litre Speed Model. The U suffix does not make it an Ulster as clearly stated in the Palawan "Ulster" book where a picture is shown on page 109 of this car in the original color. The car still wears its original body of the model A type.
After 7 owners the car was owned by John Henderson of Surrey and his family from the late fifty's util 2017. The car was repainted in 1981 in the green color it bears today. In 1981 the car was entered in the Autumn Concours where it won 3rd price but more importantly it won the 1981 St Horsfall Trophy. The car still proudly wears its green AMOC badge on the front.
In the beginning of 2017 an ad appeared in the AM news sheet where the car was offered by mr Dibbits, a grandson of John Henderson. After a few visits to the South of England the family agreed to sell me the car. I couldn't be happier because I never thought to have the opportunity to own a Speed Model.
After a mechanical refurbishment over the winter of 2017/2018, where all the patina of the interior and body were kept, the car was ready to be enjoyed. The big test came in may of 2018 where it performed without missing a beat on the Mille Miglia Retro.
